Mobility training programme for children with blindness on 27th Aug

On 27 August 2018 Humanity Welfare organisation Helpline NGO organised one day mobility training programme for children with blindness in order to maximise the independence of these children. The programme was attended by the children with blindness and their care givers, volunteers, and teachers of Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive education Bijbehara.

Mohammad Shafi, an activist with blindness from Handwara of district Kupwara who recently completed course of mobility and self dependence from Enable India NGO Banglore imparted trainings among the children with blindness from district Anantnag. He trained the participants how to use stick and cross roads and take steps for self defence while visiting busy market places and other public places.

Abrar Ahmad Bhat who himself is visually disabled person gave basic know how of the computer operations with non visual desktop access.

The children and youth with blindness had a nice time to getting to know the techniques for self reliance and independence. They thanked the trainers and said that they want to live independent lives, access school buildings washrooms, markets, banks and use ATM'S to maintain their privacy. They said that they had got an idea on how to cut their chains and live life with freedom.

Javed Ahmad Tak Honorary Chairman Humanity Welfare organisation Helpline NGO said that our organisation will left no stone unturned to make persons with disabilities mobile and self reliant. He thanked trainers for utilising their precious time for empowering the disable people. Both the trainers are facing 100% blindness still they managed to visit the organisation and impart best trainings. The trainers on realising the feedback and enthusiasm of the participants promised to follow up of training in next month.
